Here at Pitchside Docket, we are starting a new monthly tradition: four futures bets on the fourth Friday of every month. We’ll keep it bite-sized, but packed with the value every gambler hopes to devour while they slowly sip their morning coffee.
Let’s jump right into this month’s futures that look too tasty not to give them a small nibble.
1️⃣ Manchester City - EPL - League Winner (+135): Watching Brentford slap Arsenal with their inevitable first loss of the season certainly gave backers of this prop a bag full of hope. Taking this bet right after the Gunners’ first loss of the season isn’t exactly finding value at the right time. However, with three struggling teams on the horizon of their EPL schedule (LIV, IPS, ASV), this price is likely to reduce once things start rolling again in mid-October.
2️⃣ Venzia - Serie A - To Finish Last (+200): Venzia have lost six straight across all competitions and are currently posting a depressing goose egg in the Serie A standings. As the favorites to finish last in the league, this is still a great price while the campaign is young. They have allowed at least 2 goals in every game so far this season. Barring an amazing streak upon their return, this bet should be much closer, if not into minus money, before the end of this calendar year.
3️⃣ Villarreal - La Liga - Top 4 Finish (+550): A third-place finish in La Liga last year shoehorns extra hope onto this wager, especially with Villarreal’s attack posting Top 4 numbers 7 games into the season. To land this bet, a 70+ season is likely required, which means they would need to get rough 2 points per game from here on out. Not out of the question, but there's not much wiggle room to keep pace.
4️⃣ Southampton - Championship - To Be Promoted (+225): A deduction in points because of some unnecessary spying might give some pause about taking this future bet, but at this price and the fact that they are sort of playing with a chip on their shoulder because of the penalty gives them even more incentive to crash these gates. At the very least, they should get a shot at making some noise in the playoffs.
