# UEFA Champions League Round 5

The second half of the 25/26 UEFA Champions League kicks off this week with a clear divide cleaving its way through the table. Several decent games between teams in the top 5 leagues are on the docket, which should help overshadow a fairly uninteresting Wednesday morning pairing. However, those hoping to place bets on those higher profile games should seek advice elsewhere. But those looking for value in some one-sided affairs, look no further.

**November 25th** – *9:45 am Window*

*Benfica – 3-Way Moneyline (-114)*

Since their loss to Newcastle in the UCL in mid-October, Benfica’s xG hasn’t dipped below 1.6 despite only winning two games. Unfortunately, the Eagles are still hoping to finally net a goal in the main tournament of the UCL this year, failing to do so against Chelsea, Newcastle, and Bayer Leverkusen. Luckily for them, their opponent is in a worse position than they are.

Currently sitting sixth in the Eredivisie, Ajax’s season has been nothing short of a struggle. Their horrendous form continued after the International break, as they lost 1-2 at home to Excelsior despite having a much higher xG and looking the stronger team overall.

This seems like a contest between two clubs trending in opposite directions. One has a chance to make a splash in the UCL. The other is destined for some inward reflection on what went wrong.

**November 25th** – *12:00 pm Window*

Marseille/Newcastle – Total Goals Over 2.5 (-125)

Both Marseille and Newcastle are averaging over 3.0 goals in their last 10 games across all competitions. Marseille has scored eight goals over its last two games and 2 or more goals in 60% of its previous 10 games. Newcastle’s offense is also humming, notching at least two goals in 7 of their last 10.

The x-factor for this bet is that both teams are averaging only 1.0 goals against per game during the same span. Marseille’s offense is also struggling to score in UCL play, which could be another concern with this bet. Although both defenses are unlikely to collapse, the books believe both teams will at least give up one goal, posting Both Teams To Score Yes at -174\. Keeping Newcastle to just one goal may be the issue for Marseille, as Newcastle has scored at least twice in three of its four UCL matches.

**November 26th** – *9:45 am Window*

*Parlay: København/Kairat Total Goals Under 3.5 + Paphos/Monaco Total Goals Under 3.5 (+143)*

Talk about two terrible games to put into one window. When life gives you lemons, you put together parlays and throw out the lemons.

Scoring doesn’t really seem like any of these teams’ priority, with three of the four teams averaging less than one goal per game in this tournament. While their defenses don’t really assure they’ll stop goals either, this bet is really the only one to keep this window interesting.

**November 26th** – *12:00 pm Window*

*Olympiakos Piraeus/Real Madrid — Both Teams to Score-No (+104)*

Real Madrid has given up just two goals in this year’s UCL, with two clean sheets out of four tries. On the flip side, Olympiakis has only scored two goals in the UCL this year and has been held scoreless twice. In fact, since November of last year, Olympiakis has only averaged 0.80 goals per game in this tournament.

With all this said, it should be alarming that this line is hovering around plus money. The books don’t believe that Bellingham and crew can keep the Reds off the scoreboard, but Real Madrid should start concerning themselves with goal differential really soon. With only four more games left in league play, keeping these types of opponents out of the net may be the difference between qualifying for the Round of 16 or slipping down into a Knockout phase spot.
